Automobiles in Germany's Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were contacted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then found many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say initial examinations show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.

A senior representative commented the attack left him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.

"This event affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
