Around twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland were left experiencing outages on the start of the week after intense storm systems passed over the region, producing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.

Massive Hailstones and Extensive Destruction

Homeowners observed giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that various areas across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victoria's Climate Difficulties

Simultaneously, around one thousand energy customers in the southern state also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its most precipitation in over 500 days.

Emergency response teams responded to 598 calls for help across the region, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

At one point on the previous day, more than 28,000 power users in Victoria were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coast.

Tuesday was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both regions.

Health Warning

Medical authorities alerted that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.

This warning comes after historical occurrences where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
